EXPERIENCE YOUR BLISS!
What is Nia?
Created over 30 years ago by Debbie Rosas, Nia is a one-of-a-kind fitness program, which combines movements and concepts from Martial Arts, Dance Arts, and Healing Arts. Nia movements are enjoyed by learning dynamic, fun-filled, hour-long routines, set to a vast array of beautiful music. People who practice Nia enjoy increased strength, flexibility and range of motion, as well as greater power, balance and comfort in the body. The Joy of Nia is that it is available for anyone of any fitness level and body shape to be able to experience.
What Does Nia do for Me?
Teaching and practicing Nia excites me, makes me feel alive, vibrant and youthful! My Nia journey started in 2010 when I had to leave a sport I loved (karate) and find something a little gentler on my body. I discovered Nia through a magazine article, decided to order a couple of DVDs, then I simply had to take classes. I fell in love with the movement of Nia, the grace and opportunity to make the dance my own.
After years of being barefoot on the dojo floor, Nia was like coming home. Off with the runners, and back into the awareness of body and spirit, and I could move again with gentle ease and no pain. After receiving my White Belt certification in the summer of 2014, I gained an enhanced and respectful view of my body, and working together with my mind, spirit and emotions I’ve learned how the combination of all that is Nia is helping me to create a better healthy, happier, more joyful me!
Nothing would do but to continue my Nia education, and during the summer of 2015, I completed my Blue Belt certification. Blue Belt took me on a journey of communication, relationships and continued healing of my body, mind, emotions and spirit.
“I am so excited to share my Nia practice in beautiful Airdrie, Alberta, Canada. I’ve found joy and passion in something which allows me to be powerful, sassy, grounded and exuberant. It’s given me many positive results in all areas of my life, why wouldn’t I want to share it! I invite you to join me in The Dance of Joy in Movement!
